Brooklyn’s psych-shoegaze-soul outfit Quiet Loudly, and raucous post-country band GunFight!, are coming to your town this July, and you’re invited! Between these two bands there’s a bit of something for everyone, and there’s no doubt the live shows are going to melt faces, break hearts, and maybe even get you wet!
Quiet Loudly infuses classic soul influence with their signature shoegaze and noise roots. Drawing from a range of influences from Yo La Tengo, Slowdive and Sonic Youth, to Al Green, Otis Redding and The Band, the quartet presents a new soulful and atmospheric sound. According to Tiny Mix Tapes, the band “makes a strong case for the enduring merits of rock and roll.” GunFight! plays a unique and rowdy brand of Americana the band has dubbed “post-country”—a combination of roots-country, pop, and post-punk. The sound is a medley of different styles, from the outlaw country sounds of Johnny Cash or Waylon Jennings to the post-punk precision of bands like Gang of Four. As SPIN wrote, the band is a “whiskey-fueled sprint you just can’t catch up to, but keep stomping [to] because these guys are going a long way.”
Praise for GunFight!:
“A backwoods country-rock stomp that explodes into a clash of distorted guitars and scratchy howls… A whiskey-fueled sprint you just can’t catch up to, but keep stomping because these guys are going a long way.” – SPIN
“The rough and tumble sounds of GunFight! bring to mind visions of singing through broken teeth on top of urban haystacks…[on the upcoming new album] the band promises that they haven’t lost the drunken, raw sound that they started off with some years ago, and something tells us that they managed to do it with all their teeth still intact.” -CMJ
“Bushwick (Brooklyn) four-piece GunFight delivers scratchy punk pop—all hurry-up drums and chugga-chugga guitars. We’ve a feeling this will be excellent fun live.” –TIMEOUT NY
Praise for Quiet Loudly:
“ (Quiet Loudly) make no apologies for exerting popular music’s flagship lineup, kneading out of the most orthodox hardware some of the freshest music this side of Pavement’s career…What makes Soulgazer sound so special is its preservationist quality: we’ve not seen in a long time a debut album owing so much to classic rock actually uphold those values that once infused that subculture. That is, with Quiet Loudly, it really is about the music…Soulgazer is a self-assertive introduction that makes a strong case for the enduring merits of rock and roll.” -TINY MIX TAPES
“Late ’60s/early ’70s psych-rock rhythms, tones, and vocals, but more distortion.” –CMJ
“Quiet Loudly is a quartet out of Brooklyn with an equal affinity for artcore noise and southern soul rock. Not an immediately intuitive combination. But the highs are high enough to produce some real keepers on their recent release Soulgazer. Whatever label you want to put on the band, you certainly can’t call them boring. Quiet Loudly is one to keep an eye on.” -QRO MAGAZINE
